Street Soldiers, a grassroots organization that provides food and supplies to people in need in Rensselaer and Albany counties, received a very generous donation from Kelly’s Angels.

Kelly’s Angels held its Mother Lovin’ 5K on Mother’s Day, and had hundreds of pounds of leftover refreshments. They donated food, along with toiletries and household supplies.

Volunteers from Street Soldiers gather under the bridge in Rensselaer once a month to give out items to those who can use a hand.

The Graiff Family of North Greenbush, who are part of Kelly’s Angels, took the leftovers, re-packaged them and handed them out this weekend. They include oranges, bagels, cream cheese and cookies. The people receiving them were extremely grateful, the Graiffs said.

Kelly’s Angels helps Capital Region kids and their families affected by cancer and other life-threatening illness. It was founded by NewsChannel 13’s Mark Mulholland in memory of his late wife, Kelly.
