Louisiana man admits to shipping guns to Troy without license
A Louisiana man was sentenced to 5 years in prison for shipping 10 firearms to Troy without a license.
Rodell Patterson, 52, previously admitted to mailing eight packages with the weapons from Baton Rouge to the Capital Region in 2021 and 2022. Two of those firearms were found in June 2022 at the Troy apartment of a man on parole.
Patterson told investigators that he knew these shipments were unlawful and said he had talked extensively with the recipient about the types of guns and the amount of payment.
Patterson also must serve three years of post-release supervision.
He also faces a charge in Louisiana for possessing a firearm as a previously convicted felon. He faces another 15 years in prison if convicted on that.
