Albany County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who tried to run from them, and then crashed his motorcycle into a patrol car, they said.

Deputies patrolling in Colonie tried to pull over Matthew Merrill, 30, for traffic violations around 12:30 Saturday afternoon. However, he didn’t stop, they said.

Instead, he tried to turn around in a dead end road near the airport, and then hit a patrol car with his bike, investigators said.

Merrill was taken to St. Peter’s Hospital for minor injuries, and later arrested.

He was charged with criminal mischief, unlawful fleeing a police officer, aggravated unlicensed operator and criminal impersonation. He also had an active violation of probation warrant, police said.

He was sent to the Albany County Jail.
