Man indicted for allegedly ramming police car with stolen vehicle
A man accused of stealing a vehicle and intentionally striking a Saratoga County Sheriff’s vehicle was formally indicted Tuesday on charges that include reckless endangerment.
Jacob R. Hayner, 37, of Mechanicville, allegedly stole a car from the Route 146 Stewart’s near Exit 10 of the Northway just after 6:30 p.m. on May 6. He then refused to stop for police and struck the patrol car on purpose, police said.
Hayner was arraigned on charges of reckless endangerment, grand larceny, criminal mischief and unlawful fleeing a police officer.
Judge Jim Murphy denied a request to lower bail and continued it at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond or $50,000 partially secured bond.
