Meteor shower to light up night skies

If you missed any New Year’s Eve fireworks, don’t worry, there’s another show set to light up the sky this week.

The year’s first meteor shower will peak Friday, Jan. 3 before dawn.

That’s when people in the northern hemisphere have the best chance of seeing the shooting stars.

According to NASA, under clear and dark conditions you should be able to see about 120 meteors per hour during the shower’s peak.

Unlike last year’s solar eclipse – you don’t need any fancy eyewear to watch the show.
