A new law hopes to clear up any confusion or secrecy surrounding credit card surcharges.
The new law took effect on Sunday, Feb. 11.
It requires sellers to clearly post the credit card prices, inclusive of any surcharge.
Businesses can no longer put a sign on the wall or at the register notifying a fee will be applied to credit card payments without more information.
They also cannot advertise that all prices include a “cash discount” that does not apply to credit card purchases or charge separate line items.
