New nonprofit grocer opens in Troy
Bargain Grocer is now open in Troy's North Central Neighborhood.
The community, non-profit grocery store Bargain Grocery is now serving customers healthy and affordable food in Troy.
It’s located in Troy’s North Central Neighborhood.
It marks Bargain Grocery’s second brick-and-mortar location.
Operated by Compassion Coalition, they have given $70 million in products and resources.
Michael Servello, the founder and CEO of Compassion Coalition, said they do not let food go to waste.
“We’re basically a salvage operation. We depend a lot upon business to help us with their excess,” he explained.
Construction was completed this summer by regional developer First Columbia with support from leading businesses, city, county, state and federal governments.
