New park mural honors Schenectady activist

There's a brand new mural at Jerry Burrell Park in Schenectady.

There’s a brand new mural at Jerry Burrell Park in Schenectady. It’s called “Through Your Mother’s Eyes.”

It depicts Jerry Burrell and his mother painted in Burrell’s artistic style. They were both artists who would often paint murals together.

Jerry Burrell was an African American activist in the community. He was the director of the Hamilton Hill Art Center in the 1970s.

It is meant to celebrate the strength and resilience of people coming together. It’s the first in a series of installations.
