A lot of pools might be closing, but Albany County is already getting ready for next year.

County Executive Dan McCoy announced that state government has awarded the county a nearly $1.86 million grant to provide no-cost or low-cost swimming programs for the public.

“Swimming is a life skill, and access to a public pool ensures that everyone in our community, regardless of their economic status, has the opportunity to learn and enjoy this essential activity,” he said.

The New York Statewide Investment in More Swimming, or NY SWIMS initiative, aims to help areas design, construct, and modernize public swimming facilities.
