Police: Arkansas had illegal gun, magazine on Thruway

A man from Arkansas was arrested on Sunday after State Police said they found a stolen gun during a traffic stop.

Troopers stopped a vehicle on the Thruway in Bethlehem on Sunday around 4:45 a.m. for a traffic violation. Jarren A. Dewitt, 30, allegedly had a firearm in the car, which was illegally possessed. Troopers also found a high-capacity magazine, police said.

Dewitt was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding device and traffic violations.

He was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
