Police: Bronx man bought vehicle with fake check
A Bronx man is accused of buying a vehicle with a forged check.
Alex Almonte, 23, allegedly bought the vehicle from a Saratoga County resident in March. He presented a cashier’s check for more than $50,000. However, the check was fake, State Police said.
Almonte is also accused of falsifying state Department of Motor Vehicle documents. New York City Police Department found the vehicle, State Police said.
Almonte turned himself in to State Police. He was charged with grand larceny, possession of a forged instrument, falsifying business records and a traffic violation. He was arraigned in Clifton Park Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
