Police: Queensbury woman received nearly $3,300 in illegal benefits

A Queensbury woman is accused of welfare fraud.

Brittney M. Alguire, 31, did not report earned income on a recertification application for benefits filed in February 2023, according to the Warren County Department of Social Services.

That resulted in Alguire receiving $3,282 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits that she was not entitled to, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said. 

Alguire was charged with third-degree welfare fraud, third-degree grand larceny, and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

She was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and released pending a future court appearance.
