Police: Schoharie County man had illegal weapons

A Schoharie County man is facing weapons charges after a domestic incident.

Simon Aranovitch, 20, of Seward, allegedly prevented the victim from leaving, obstructed their breathing and threatened to use weapons, State Police said. Aranovitch also is accused of leaving threatening voicemails.

Police found numerous illegally possessed firearms and large capacity ammunition feeding devices, they said.

Aranovitch was charged with 12 counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful imprisonment, criminal obstruction of breathing, and harassment-related charges. He was arraigned in Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment Court and bail was set at $1,000 cash, $4,000 bond or $6,000 partially secured bond. Aranovitch was sent to Schoharie County Jail in lieu of bail.
