Police: Troy man deposited $4,000 worth of fake checks

A Troy man is accused of depositing fraudulent checks at multiple institutions in Albany and Rensselaer counties.

Terrance M. Lee, 35, allegedly had these fake checks and went to banks in Glenmont, Watervliet, Cohoes and Brunswick to deposit them.

This happened on Sept. 14 and resulted in the theft of more than $4,000, State Police said.

Lee was charged with four counts of possession of a forged instrument, two counts of grand larceny and two counts of petit larceny.

He was arraigned in Brunswick Town Court and sent to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 partially secured bond.

He was released on bail and then taken to Cohoes Town Court to be arraigned on the Albany County charges.

Lee was then turned over to Troy Police for pending unrelated charges, according to State Police.
