Police: Troy man stole vehicle

An 18-year-old Troy man is accused of stealing a vehicle on Christmas.

Troy Police responded to a report of a parked and unoccupied vehicle that was stolen from the area of 5th Avenue and Hutton Street. Officers saw the vehicle and pulled it over around 10 p.m.

Police said the driver, Jamal J. Bass, drove away and entered the Martin Luther King Apartments off Oakwood Avenue and parked. Bass then got out and ran down a bike path adjacent to the apartment complex.

Police caught him in a nearby yard.

The vehicle was returned to its owner.

Bass is facing several charges. He was released on an appearance ticket.
