Queens man admits to leading police on chase, assaulting corrections officer
A Queens man has pleaded guilty to leading police on a chase and later assaulting a corrections officer.
Jose A. Guity, 25, was arrested on Feb. 23 after police tried to stop him on the Northway for an unsafe lane change. He then left at Exit 14 and then drove west on Route 9P at around 75 mph in a 30 mph zone. He then stopped in the middle of traffic near Yaddo Gardens and ran from the vehicle. Guity was eventually caught.
Police found ammunition and a magazine in the vehicle and a pistol in the field where Guity ran. He assaulted a corrections officer a few days later while in Saratoga County Jail.
Guity pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court on Friday to criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree attempted assault.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 28.
