Regional Food Bank beginning Thanksgiving dinner preps after taking over for Equinox.

The Regional Food Bank is beginning preparations for its big Thanksgiving dinner distribution.

The organization is preparing to cook 150,000 meals for 30,000 people across six local counties. The food bank took over the meal from Equinox.

“A lot of those will go to homebound seniors, people that are unhoused, homeless, so that they can still enjoy a hot meal on Thanksgiving. So people who live alone, who can’t get out, we’ll deliver the meals to them or give them out through senior services or senior living homes, and then the rest people can pick up a meal,” said Dominick Purnomo, a member of the Regional Food Bank board.

Every month, the regional food bank hosts a drive-through distribution event that serves hundreds of people.
