A plan to build wind turbines at the Port of Coeymans has been canceled, according to the Times Union.

It was expected there nearly 900 new jobs would be coming to the area to help build offshore turbine engines and blades. Now both companies involved have canceled their plans.

A report from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority says a change in turbine size is one of the main factors.

GE Verona plans to use smaller turbines, which would require them to build more wind towers, at an added cost.
