The special election in the city of Saratoga Springs has moved from polling sites to a big table in the vault at the County Board of Elections.

Election commissioners are poring over write-in ballots at a large table with attorneys watching carefully.

Chuck Marshall, the Republican candidate for Public Works Commissioner, was also among those looking on.
He and Democrat Hank Kuczynski, who ran as a write-in candidate, are separated by approximately 20 votes, with several hundred absentee and military ballots still outstanding.

The winner won’t be known until all those are in and counted during the week of February 10.

outcome will determine the balance of power on the Saratoga Springs City Council, where there are currently two Democrats and two Republicans.
