Schenectady’s mayor announces grants to boost water infrastructure

Two grants worth just over $10 million coming to Schenectady.

Two grants worth just over $10 million are coming to Schenectady.

Mayor Gary McCarthy announced the two grants on Tuesday. The money will help support water infrastructure throughout the city.

A grant of $50,000 will help reconstruct and replace two pump stations in the city.

The other grant is for $10 million. It’s from the Mohawk River Inflow Reduction and Resiliency Program.

That money will help the city increase how much water the collection system can take in and help minimize sewer overflowing during heavy rain.
