State Police write over 18,000 tickets during enforcement campaign

New York State Police issued over 18,000 tickets statewide during its recent “Spring Safe Driving” campaign.

The special enforcement period took place from April 9 through April 14. During the campaign, State Police focused on speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving such as handheld devices and violations of the Move Over Law.

Police wrote a total of 18,375 tickets including 6,873 tickets for speeding, 1,092 for distracted driving and 337 for violations of the Move Over Law.

In Troop G, which covers the Capital Region, there were a total of 1,599 tickets, including 643 for speeding, 119 for distracted driving and 110 for violations of the Move Over Law.
