Thousands of runners are preparing to descend on Albany right near the state Capitol.

The CDPHP’s Workforce Team Challenge is this Thursday, May 16.

It kicks off on Madison Avenue between the New York State Museum and the Empire State Plaza.

The big running event is raising money for two groups: Wizards Wardrobe, which is a free afterschool reading program for children in Albany’s South End, and Reeling for Recovery, a nonprofit that helps young people struggling with social and addiction issues.

NewsChannel 13’s Rodger Wyland will once again kick off the run this Thursday, at 6:25 p.m., live on NewsChannel 13.
