TSA, DMV advise people to get Real ID cards to board flights
The Transportation Security Administration and state Department of Motor Vehicles are reminding people of an upcoming deadline to obtain a new ID in order to board domestic flights.
The deadline to get a new ID to board domestic flights is quickly approaching.
New York residents will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license by May 2025.
If they do not have one, they will need another form of approved identification, such as a passport.
The REAL ID driver’s license and identification are distinguished by having a small star in the upper right corner to indicate they meet federal minimum security standards.
