Two Albany residents sentenced to prison in SEFCU fraud scheme
Two Albany residents are headed to prison for their roles in a bank fraud conspiracy targeting a local credit union.
Allahson Allah, 54, and Caeshara Cannon, 35, were involved in a scheme to obtain personal identifying information from SEFCU customers in order to fraudulently obtain cash and credit, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
The scheme took place from February 2022 through October 2022 while Cannon worked at the bank. They netted $89,000 in profits from the conspiracy, prosecutors said.
Allah received 57 months in prison, and Cannon got 16 months. They also must pay restitution.
Three other people were involved in this scheme. Davon Parson, 20, received 15 months in prison. Evan Cutler, 25, of Queensbury, and Dnauticah Taylor-Sterman, 21, of Albany, will be sentenced later this year.
