Whiteout conditions cause 19-vehicle pileup on Thruway

There was a massive pileup on the Thruway in Herkimer County on Monday.

Whiteout conditions caused an initial crash around 11:11 a.m. on I-90 near Exit 29A in Little Falls. That crash caused a chain reaction that involved 16 passenger vehicles and three tractor-trailers, police said.

Victims were taken to the hospital. Thankfully, any injuries were minor, according to investigators.

It took around three hours to clean up the scene, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
