Republicans on the Columbia County Board of Supervisors want to slash funding from the sheriff’s department.

They introduced a resolution Friday to cut over $250,000 from the sheriff’s budget and put the Emergency Management Division under the control of the Board of Supervisors.

This resolution comes two weeks after Republican Sheriff David Bartlett lost his bid for re-election to Democrat Don Krapf.

Krapf does not support the resolution.
