Nurses, lawmakers meet to discuss overtime law

Nurses and lawmakers met Thursday to discuss legislation that would strengthen New York’s mandatory overtime law.

That law bars hospitals and other medical facilities from forcing nurses to work overtime, except during limited emergency situations.

One bill would eliminate mandatory overtime for nurses. A second bill would focus on ways to enforce employers to comply with the law.
