2 people charged with animal cruelty

Two people are facing animal cruelty charges. Vermont State Police say 32-year-old Cassandra Halsey from Hoosick Falls and 22-year-old Juan Garcia of Pownal neglected the eight animals in their care.

Officers say they found six guinea pigs, four of which were dead, and two dogs. The animals that were alive were taken by animal control and brought to a shelter.

Halsey and Garcia are scheduled to appear in court on March 27.
