A woman and child are safe tonight in Gloversville after a 3 hour standoff, according to the Gloversville Police Department.

According to police, officers responded to a domestic call early Saturday morning at 32 W. 8 Ave.  This led police to find 29-year-old Michael J. Davies, who would not cooperate with officers. A negotiator was called in assist officer on scene.

With help from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the Gloversville Police Department discovered that there was a female in the home who had an order of protection against Mr. Davies.

With this information, officers determined that this was the same woman who made the 911 call.
According to police, officers could not get in immediate contact with the woman afterwards.

After further investigation, The Gloversville Police Department found out Mr. Davies had a gun inside the home.

Police officers then used two devices to break the front door open, entered the home, and saved the woman and child.

Mr. Davies is currently in jail and awaiting arraignment.

The woman and child were safely relocated.
