They’re called guardian caps, and they help reduce the force of impact when a player is hit in the head.

Members of the Albany Academy football team have been wearing the caps, after a parent donated the money to buy them.

The head coach of the varsity team says players have been enthusiastic about wearing them.

The NFL is allowing players to wear guardian caps during games this season.
