Albany County inmate accused of assaulting officer, sheriff’s deputy
An inmate at the Albany County Jail is now accused of assaulting the staff.
Shamont White is serving time for robbery.
Police said on Monday, he spit at officers during a screening in the medical unit.
He then contorted the fingers of a corrections officer who tried to calm him down, said investigators, and used his elbow to hit the deputy sheriff on the head.
The officer has pain and bruises, while the deputy sheriff had to go to Albany Medical Center for pain, dizziness, blurred vision and vomiting.
White was charged with two counts of assault and one court of harassment.
He’s due in Colonie Town Court on Wednesday.
