Several Albany buildings to be torn down after early morning fire

Four buildings are deemed a total loss after a fire on Grand Street in Albany.

It broke out just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, starting in at 114 Grand St. and quickly spreading to three other buildings, 112 Grand St., 110 Grand St., and 108 Grand St., the fire chief said.

Dozens of firefighters responded, and a number of surrounding departments were called in for mutual aid.

The fire was brought under control in about three hours.

A total of 15 people live in the buildings, the fire chief said. The people who lived in those buildings are now being assisted. All pets also made it out.

There are no reports of injuries.

The buildings will now be demolished, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said.
