Albany International Airport keeping a close eye on wildfire smoke

Smoke from the Canadian wildfires is not delaying commercial flights at Albany International Airport. However, smaller, private planes may be affected.

The airport is operating under instrument flight rules, or IFR, which is used when visibility drops to three miles.

The smaller aircrafts likely don’t have IFR instrumentation, Airport spokesperson Doug Myers said.

Thursday’s visibility at the airport is 2.25 miles – up from two miles on Wednesday.
