Albany man accused of trying to steal pickup truck from New Scotland homeowner

An Albany man was due to be arraigned Thursday on burglary and larceny charges.
Derrick Ruffin, 43, tried to steal a vehicle from a home in the town of New Scotland.
When investigators arrived at the home, they found Ruffin in the driver’s seat of the homeowner’s pick-up truck, attempting to drive the vehicle off the property.
Further investigation revealed that Ruffin entered the homeowner’s business garage and took the car key.
Ruffin had over 10 grams of crack cocaine in his underwear, investigators said.
He’s facing a long list of charges.
