Albany man charged with burglary, arson

An Albany man broke into a home on Danker Avenue, police said.

Police were called to the home at Danker and Lincoln, around 12:45 a.m. Monday for a report of a burglary in progress.

A woman told them that the person, later identified by police as Joseph Vita, 27, removed a window to get inside. Once confronted, he fled on foot, police said.  He also allegedly set the window screen on fire.

Vita was charged with burglary and arson. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and released.
