Albany man charged with murder in Plattsburgh

An Albany man has been charged with murder for allegedly hitting someone with a car in Plattsburgh.

Thomas Lance, 38, is now in the Clinton County Jail without bail. He was caught after a brief chase.

The victim, 53-year-old Albany resident Wayne Haupt, was found in a parking lot at the Exit 36 truck stop Wednesday with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead at the University of Vermont Health Network at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital.

Lance is due in court on Friday. An autopsy is planned for that same day.
