An Albany man was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison for shooting a man to death last year.
Laquan Fallen, 24, shot Czsar Lewis on Central Avenue and Robin Street in October 2022. The gun was illegally possessed by Fallen.
Fallen had been facing a top count of second-degree murder but pleaded guilty on Aug. 8 to manslaughter as well as criminal possession of a weapon.
The victim’s mother, Connie Wiggins, spoke before the sentencing.
“As we get older in life, we expect our children to bury us, not burying them,” said Wiggins in a statement. “The hardest thing I have ever gone through in my life is burying my baby boy.”
Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon prosecuted the case.
