An Albany man was sentenced on Tuesday to eight years in prison for shooting a group of people inside a vehicle.

Anthony Carter, 19, pleaded guilty in November to criminal possession of a weapon as part of an agreement.

Carter tried killing three people by shooting at an occupied van on March 17, 2023 in the area of Orange and Robin streets in Albany, said investigators, who added he also had an illegal gun.

Carter must also serve five years of post-release supervision, and have no contact with the three victims.
