The Albany Fire Department is mourning the loss of former Chief James Larson. Larson passed away yesterday, according to Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan.

Larson passed away yesterday, according to Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan.

Larson spent 32 years with the Albany Fire Department. He started in November 1968.

He served as the chief of the department from December 1987 until November 2000.

Sheehan offered her condolences and said funeral arrangements are pending.

She has directed all flags in Albany to be lowered to half-staff until further notice.
