Albany Police arrest three in two robberies
Albany Police have arrested three people in connection with two robberies on Thursday night.
Officers responded to Ontario Street and Hudson Avenue around 9:40 p.m. The victim was approached by three people who demanded their property. The suspects punched the victim several times in the face before stealing the victim’s wallet and running away, police said.
The victim was treated on scene.
Police responded to a second robbery in the area of Madison Avenue and Quail Street. They pushed the victim to the ground and demanded his property. He fell and dropped his cell phone. The men took the phone and ran away, according to police.
Officers searched the area and arrested all three suspects.
Deavonta Benson, 22, of Albany was charged with two counts of robbery.
Isaiah Laurange, 21, of Chatham, has been charged with two counts of robbery and one count of criminal possession of stolen property.
Jaylind Thomas, 21, of Hudson, was charged with two counts of robbery and one count of criminal possession of stolen property.
All three were scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in Albany City Criminal Court.
