Albany police investigate early Sunday morning homicide

Albany Police are investigating a homicide that happened early Sunday morning on Morris Street.

Officers say that around 4:20 a.m. they responded to a home on the 500 block of Morris Street between Partridge Street and South Main Avenue for reports of a shooting.

After they arrived, police say they found a 60-year-old man who had gunshot wounds while he was in the home.

The man was declared dead on scene.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Detective Division at 518-462-8039.

Councilman Owusu Anane says this is traumatizing for the family and the people who live in that neighborhood. Anane identified the victim as Alonzo Ford. He said Ford was well-known and respected in the community.
