Albany restaurateur Yono Purnomo gets critical kidney transplant
Well-known Albany restaurateur Yono Purnomo has a new kidney.
Purnomo underwent the surgery earlier this week at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, according to his son Dominick Purnomo.
As NewsChannel 13 reported last fall, Yono was diagnosed with end stage renal failure in April 2023. That required him to get dialysis at home several hours a day, with the hope a donor would come through before it was too late. Luckily, someone stepped up.
Both Yono and the “angel donor” are now recovering and doing well, according to Dominick Purnomo.
“We appreciate all of the support over the past year and count on your continued support over the next few months. We are truly grateful!” Dominick Purnomo said in statement.
“Please keep my father and his incredibly selfless donor in your prayers. It is a long road to recovery,” he continued.
