Albany teen accused of gun possession
An 18-year-old Albany man is facing a gun charge.
Deputies were investigating in the area of Central Avenue and Lexington Avenue around 9:20 on Tuesday morning. They saw a man, identified as Shaimeek Nesmith, who had a handgun, investigators said.
Nesmith ran and was arrested after a short chase, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office said.
He had a loaded .22-caliber handgun.
Nesmith was charged with one felony count and one misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a weapon. He was also charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree.
Nesmith was scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Court on Wednesday morning.
