Albany woman found guilty of stabbing man to death

An Albany woman was convicted on Wednesday of stabbing a 58-year-old man to death.

Kyisha Smith, 42, was found guilty of one count of second-degree murder after a jury trial in Albany County Court.

Smith stabbed James West on May 12, 2023, at a high-rise apartment on South Pearl Street. West was found with a stab wound to the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prosecutors said Smith and West had a domestic relationship.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 16, 2025. She faces 25 years to life in prison.
