The Greater Amsterdam School District has issued a statement about the death of high school chemistry teacher Liam Pickett.

Pickett, who died Tuesday after suffering a heart attack at the school, has been with the district since the 2022-2023 school year.

“He was a tremendous and dynamic teacher that was respected by our entire staff as he truly loved what he did each day. His students knew that he brought a true passion to the subject and enjoyed his class and his love of teaching,” the statement said.

“Our condolences go out to Mr. Pickett’s family during this incredibly challenging time, his smile and caring demeanor created a wonderful and welcoming atmosphere that will be missed by all students and staff,” the statement went on to say.
