Troy Police have charged a man in a Thursday evening shooting at Corliss Park Apartments. Three people were hurt – a man, a woman and a teenage boy.

Investigators quickly responded.

Hector Rodriguez, 35, was arrested less than an hour later. He was arraigned in Troy Police Court Thursday morning on second-degree attempted murder charges, along with two counts of second-degree assault.

“He began a dialogue with us pretty soon into the incident,” Troy Police Chief Dan DeWolf said. “Everything came together perfectly, and we were able to pretty much wrap it up in about 45 minutes.”

DeWolf can’t discuss the motive, he said, but he said the alleged suspect knew at least one of the shooting victims, and that there had been an ongoing dispute leading up to the shooting.

The woman who was shot underwent surgery and is in critical condition. The man and the teenage boy were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Rodriguez has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. He’s being held at the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
