Balloon tribute honors Whitehall 4th grader killed in fire

Whitehall residents honor girl killed in house fire

Whitehall residents honor girl killed in house fire at a celebration with balloons and bubbles.

Residents of the community gathered outside Whitehall Elementary School on Wednesday to honor a little girl killed in a house fire.

The crowd held helium filled balloons and children were blowing bubbles in memory of Airyonna Jabot., who died in a fire at 5 Maple St. on May 8.

The plan was for those balloons and bubbles to go skyward to heaven, but most of those balloons went home with the children.

Faculty and staff described Airyonna as a bright, intelligent girl with a great big smile and a streak of endearing sarcasm that they found endearing.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. Sources tell NewsChannel 13 that it is suspicious.
