Beloved musician to be honored in Albany for contribution to Black arts
The Black Arts & Cultural Festival Gospel Night is happening Friday night, August 2, at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center. Dennis Lee Edney, a man known as one of the best musicians in the Capital Region, will be honored.
Dennis Lee Edney, a man known as one of the best musicians in the Capital Region, will be honored at the Black Art & Cultural Festival’s Gospel Night Friday, August 2 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.
Edney was the minister of music for Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Albany for 40 years, and is known to many affectionately as “Papa D.”
Edney died this year on February 14, Valentine’s Day. At least 3,000 people attended his funeral.
