Students, staff safe after phone threat cancels Bethlehem cancels after school activities

Shooting threat prompts extra police at Bethlehem schools

There was an increased police presence across the Bethlehem School District on Wednesday.

All Bethlehem students and staff are safe after a phone threat that canceled all after school activities, the district said.

Student-athletes have been reunited with parents and guardians. Police are doing a final sweep of Bethlehem High School and Eagle Elementary School.

The Bethlehem Police Department notified the district that it received a threat targeting outdoor activities at the high school at 5:30 p.m. The district suspended all sports practices and activities as of 4:30 p.m.

This comes on the heels of a threat that the district received Tuesday night, where someone threatened to “shoot up” the high school.

Police swept the school on Wednesday and found no threat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bethlehem Police at 518-439-9973.

Sports teams from other schools are boarding buses with the assistance of police. Bethlehem students will be released individually to parents/guardians with the assistance of police at the Gym B Athletic Entrance in the front of the high school.

Also, parents/guardians of students in the School’s Out program at Eagle are also being released to parents/guardians.
