Local lawmakers have introduced a bill designed to help New York farmers find affordable housing.
This bipartisan bill, introduced by Republican Sen. Jim Tedisco and Democratic Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, gives a 20% tax credit to family farms in the state to construct housing for farm workers.
The state lost 2,800 farms and 364,000 acres of farmland between 2017 and 2022, they said.
